STURGEON: I WAS NEVER INTO FLAGS

NICOLA Sturgeon has sparked amazement after declaring: “I've never been that into flags.”

Despite a career spent surrounded by the Saltire, the former SNP leader made the claim on ITV's Good Morning Britain yesterday when quizzed on the sudden rise in flags tied to lamp posts across Scotland.

She said she was taken aback by the number in Aberdeen and suggested they were not there to spread a “positive” message. Multiple flags appeared in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Falkirk in recent days in response to a “Raise the Colours” campaign being backed by right-wing pages on Facebook.

Organisers insist the mass display is about patriotism - but critics warn it is a message to people not born in this country.
