NICOLA Sturgeon has revealed false rumours about her sexuality "got under my skin".
The former SNP first minister opened up for the first time about the subject as she rejected false gossip about a gay affair with a French diplomat.
In her memoirs, Sturgeon also said sexual relationships should be private matters in memoir.
Sturgeon's book Frankly, which will be published next week, will delve into her nine years as leader of Scotland.
In an extract published in The Times, she addresses speculation that she is gay, despite marrying Peter Murrell in 2010.
