TV LEGEND Dougie Donnelly has been "blown away" by fans calling for him to return to Sportscene full-time.

- BY STUART MacDONALD

The 72-year-old made a comeback as host of the BBC show on Saturday to mark its 50th anniversary. It came 15 years after the 72-year-old last presented the Scottish football highlights package.

The special programme also saw the return of veteran commentators Archie Macpherson, Jock Brown and Rob Maclean.

Viewers lavished praise on Donnelly’s presenting skills and said he should make a permanent return.

Taggart actor Colin McCredie said: “Sportscene at 50 – Dougie Donnelly and Archie Macpherson showing them how to do it.”
