Fake online weight-loss jabs 'a danger to health'

- BY DAN WARBURTON

DANGEROUS fake weight-loss jabs are being sold on social media, an investigation has found.

Soaring prices of the real thing and a lack of access on the NHS have enticed gangs which once hawked dodgy Covid jabs to switch to "hotter" slimming drugs.

Experts say the trade, which uses Facebook and TikTok, could be worth millions.

Investigators discovered the counterfeit jabs contain GLP-1, the same natural hormone found in Mounjaro.

Demand for black market jabs has soared since manufacturers Eli Lilly announced huge price rises.

With 64 per cent of the UK population overweight or obese, many thousands already reliant on the medication are looking for alternatives after being priced out of private prescriptions.
