THE widow of a murdered policeman has called for every cop in Scotland to be given body-worn cameras.

- BY NORMAN SILVESTER

Christine Fulton's husband Constable Lewis Fulton died in June 1994 after he was stabbed by schizophrenic teenager Philip McFadden in Glasgow's Gorbals.

Police Scotland is halfway through a programme to roll out 10,500 body-worn video cameras but Christine says it should have been completed a long time ago.

In an exclusive interview with the Criminal Record podcast, she called on the Scottish Government to provide the funding to speed up and complete the roll-out.

Christine said: “Lewis went to work armed only with a wooden truncheon.

“Things have got a lot better since then but there is room for improvement.

“I don't know why body-worn cameras are still at the rolling out stage. When you go down to the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow, the security staff have them but in Police Scotland they are only just starting.”
