Chancellor eyes slashing National Insurance in her Budget

RACHEL Reeves is mulling over a Budget tax cut for Scots ahead of the Holyrood election.

The Chancellor is looking at slashing National Insurance rates by 2p in the pound as a cost-of-living measure.

But a hike in income tax being considered by the Labour Government would not apply north of the Border, ensuring Scots receive a pay packet boost.

One senior Labour figure said: “This could be a gamechanger for hard-pressed Scots. People are crying out to be better off and this would put more money in their pockets”
