Epic Irish win keeps star's glory year going
RORY MCILROY reckons 2025 may go down as the best year of his career after grabbing a storybook win at the Amgen Irish Open.
The home hero says he won't ever forget the moment he repeated his K Club triumph of 2016 in epic fashion in front of a jubilant County Kildare crowd.
McIlroy produced a staggering 72nd-hole eagle that sent the galleries wild to force a playoff with Swede Joakim Lagergren after the pair carded 66s.
Grand Slam king then went toe-to-toe with the Scandinavian before finally seeing him off on the third playoff hole to win his home Open for the second time.
