Review your tariff before energy price cap increase

HELPING HAND Take a meter reading in the last few days of September
-
I'VE seen that the energy price cap is rising again soon. I'm worried about my bills. What should I do?
IT is understandable to feel concerned. From October 1, the energy price cap will rise by two per cent, taking the average annual dual fuel bill from £1720 to £1755. That means around £35 more a year, or just under £3 a month for a typical household.
The increase is smaller than past jumps but comes at a time when energy costs remain historically high.
The cap limits what suppliers can charge per unit of gas and electricity for people on standard variable tariffs, which covers most households not on a fixed deal.
If you are on a standard variable tariff, the new rates will apply automatically.
To ensure you are billed correctly, take a meter reading in the last few days of September so your supplier has an accurate record of what you used before and after the change.
