A RAPE charity has called for a doctor to be suspended over his alleged "harass ment" of a woman attacked by his son.

- BY ISLA STORIE

Highland GP Dr Andrew McFarlane, 61, was arrested and charged with communications offences in August for allegedly calling Ellie Wilson a "manipulative liar", a "slut" and a "hippo" in a series of social media posts.

His son, Daniel, was convicted of raping Ellie in 2022.

The doctor is yet to appear in court.

Rape Crisis Scotland has made two complaints to the General Medical Council about his conduct but he is still free to see patients in NHS Highland.

Posts claimed Daniel was the victim of a miscarriage of justice and had been threatened, blackmailed and abused by Ellie.

Screenshots of private and sexual conversations between Daniel and Ellie were also uploaded. Daniel and Ellie were in a relationship when he attacked her between December 2017 and February 2018, while they were both studying at Glasgow University.

The medical student was found guilty of two rape charges and jailed for five years in July 2022.
