Glaswegian Beth is picture of success seat after switching Sports and taking bronze in triathlon
IT was a Polaroid moment brilliantly capturing another landmark on a journey that has taken Beth Potter from Rio to Paris via the depths of despair.
The iron woman became the second Scot to land an Olympic medal as she bagged a brilliant bronze in the triathlon yesterday morning.
And just moments after crossing the line in an exhausting hour and 55 minutes and 10 seconds, the Glaswegian grabbed her specially purchased instant camera along with her beaming parents Alex and Ann to mark the moment for eternity.
For Potter it's a picture that proves the decision to leave the world of track athletics behind was the right one after her 34th-place finish in the Rio 2016 10,000m left her questioning her sporting future.
Eight years of blood, sweat and tears not to mention having to learn to ride a bikepaid off big style as she crossed the line at Pont Alexandre III, 15 seconds behind home favourite Cassandre Beaugrand and nine off Switzerland's Julie Derron.
And fishing out her photos, Potter said: "I was just so glad to get on the podium. I obviously tried to go for the gold but that wasn't to be.
"But it's come full circle. I was at the Olympics in 2016 watching the triathlon to now getting a medal, it's just mad.
