Fiend gets life ban on keeping canines after welfare officers find dead animals

- BY BILLY GADDI

A WOMAN has been jailed after eight dogs were left to die in a hellhole flat.

Stacey Harris, 39, was sentenced to eight months in jail and handed a lifetime ban from owning or keeping dogs. She was found guilty of seven charges - six of causing unnecessary suffering and one of failing to meet basic welfare needs - when she appeared before Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Only one dog survived the appalling conditions inside the abandoned flat in Dundee.

The court heard Harris starved the dogs for at least two months and failed to provide food or seek treatment for painful eye and ear infections.

A probe was launched by the Scottish SPCA after a tip-off was made about suspected dog abandonment last October.
