TWO women accused of stalking Madeleine McCann's parents lay in wait for them like “private investigators", a court heard.

- BY MARTIN FRICKER

Julia Wandelt, 24, who claimed to be missing Madeleine, and Karen Spragg, 61, angrily confronted Kate McCann in December and demanded she take a DNA test, a jury was told.

Polish national Wandelt had allegedly bombarded Kate with up to 60 phone calls and messages a day and contacted Madeleine's sister Amelie.

She begged Amelie to take a DNA test to prove she was her sibling, who vanished from a holiday flat in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007, aged three.

Prosecutors said Wandelt and conspiracy theorist Spragg, 61, of Cardiff, turned up at the McCann's home in Rothley, Leics.

Spragg allegedly told a friend in a message: “We are sat outside the McCanns’ home waiting for them to come home. We are sat like private investigators with car lights out ... Never thought I would be stalking the McCanns xxx.”
