MY CHAIN WALK PLUNGE AGONY

AN EXPERIENCED climber was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after plunging from a popular coastal chain walk.

Jo Randall, from Edinburgh, was scrambling along the chain walk in Elie, Fife, on Sunday when she veered off the main route and grabbed on to loose rock.

It gave way, sending her tumbling on to jagged stones below.

It sparked a major rescue operation as Jo lay with blood gushing from wounds in her head and leg.

She said: "I pulled a loose piece of rock off and fell about 5m (16ft).

"I managed the landing as best as I could but I landed on rocks that were all over the place and really uneven, which meant when I fell, I kind of went knee and then head."
