FAMILY 'IN LIMBO' OVER TOT'S ILLNESS

- BY CHIARA POLLOCK

THE family of a young girl in desperate need of a lifesaving heart transplant say they are stuck “in limbo” as she waits for an organ donation.

Six-year-old Brie McCann was born with Ebstein's anomaly, a rare condition that affects the flow of blood through a valve in the heart.

Brie’s family launched a fight earlier this year to have her put on the list to receive a heart donation.

Her mum Jodie, 34, has told how Brie's condition has deteriorated and she is now on the urgent transplant list.

She said doctors at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital “could visibly see” her daughter's deterioration and were keen to have her on Milrinone-a medication for cardiac support in patients with acute heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, or chronic heart failure.

But it would require Brie to be an inpatient at hospital as the drug is received through transfusion.
