LUKE McBETH says he's ready to answer a Partick Thistle SOS in his skipper's absence - and has even ditched the “cheat meals” to guarantee it.

Lee Ashcroft has forged a solid centre-back pairing with Dan O'Reilly for Jags but misses their trip to Raith with a calf injury.

Awaiting scan results, boss Mark Wilson is optimistic the injury isn't as bad as first feared as McBeth prepares for his first start in 12 games.

Thistle could hit the summit and McBeth said: “The easiest thing to do when youre not in the team is to be down and blame other people.

“Tm trying to not be like that. Away from here I've been doing a bit more in the gym because I'm not daft, I know I’m not starting games. That's helped me feel more ready when chances have come along. Even after games, when youre playing a lot you think you can go out for a few pints afterwards or have a cheat meal.
