Migrants crossing Channel will be detained before being sent back to France in scheme
PEOPLE who arrive in small boats will be detained as part of the new returns deal with France, Yvette Cooper revealed yesterday.
The Home Secretary said migrants will be held to prevent them fleeing, so they can then be sent back across the Channel under the pilot scheme.
She also said the UK wants to extend the first returns agreement struck with France since Brexit "as far as we're able".
