Let's find a light in the darkness

SUICIDE rates and poor mental health among young Scots are a national tragedy.

Recent figures show that more than one in four deaths among young Scots are by probable suicide.

Parents are losing their sons and daughters but many of these deaths are avoidable.

Access to mental health services would provide vulnerable young people with a lifeline to cope with their anguish.

Yet children are, in some cases waiting years to access this.

This appalling situation is why the Record is today launching a powerful campaign to address these injustices.

Save Young Lives is a call for politicians and parents across Scotland to do whatever it takes to tackle harm.

Who among us would not move Heaven and Earth to save the life of a young person?

But together we can do so much more.
