A MUM saved her baby’s life after she “trusted her gut” and told medics to test her child for a deadly blood-poisoning condition.

Laura Duffey, 31, said Myla “came terrifyingly close to dying” when a sepsis infection ravaged her tiny body.

The mum, from Denny in Stirlingshire, said she had to plead with doctors for Myla to be assessed for the condition - as she did not show the most common symptoms.

Laura is now warning other parents to keep an eye on their kids over the festive period in case they develop similar issues.

Myla, who is now two, has spent most of her life in hospital after developing symptoms linked to liver problems at just five weeks old. She was initially moved from Forth Valley Hospital to Glasgow Royal Infirmary before being admitted to Leeds Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.
