Returning hero shows he has got the stomach for the fight after shrugging off bout of sickness to set up Hoops victory

- BY SCOTT BURNS

KIERAN TIERNEY threw up in the Celtic dressing room - but only after he had helped to leave Aberdeen on a downer.

Brendan Rodgers revealed Scotland star KT had been struggling with a bug but the defender battled through things to set up Benjamin Nygren for the opening goal.

KT came back out for the second half after being ill at halftime and saw Reo Hatate hit a stunning second before he was able to see out the game from the bench.

Celtic boss Rodgers revealed: “I don't know what it is, but the food up here is very, very nice, and the Hilton in the airport there was brilliant, so I don't think it was that!

“I'm not sure, a wee bug of some sort, but thankfully he’s OK now.

“In fairness, he was sick at halftime, throwing up all over the changing room. Thankfully, I wasn't in there at the time.

“He did well to come out for the second half, but he came off. We gave him 15 minutes or so and then took him off.

“But he’s a top player and he’s only going to get fitter and stronger and better.

“The thing, if you look at last week, that’s where his super strength is.

“He's really good in that moment where it's one-v-one, he’s got really explosive speed and his cross-stability is really good.

“We've seen it last week against St Mirren, putting some great balls into the box.”

Summer signing Nygren picked up the man of the match award at Pittodrie for his goal and an assist as he showed he has settled in nicely at the champions.

Rodgers claimed that was exactly the reason he took the Swedish international to Scotland from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland.

The boss said: “Yes, excellent. I think he was man of the match, wasn't he?
