PARTICK THISTLE’S Championship title hopes have taken a massive hit after Logan Chalmers and Oisin Smyth were ruled out for at least the next two Friday nights under the lights.

A knee injury keeps out midfielder Smyth against Morton tonight then leaders St Johnstone, with Mark Wilson admitting how much longer remains unclear.

Chalmers pulled up in the warm-up for last Sunday's Scottish Cup exit to St Mirren with a thigh strain, a blow given Wilson's tendency to play him and Aidan Fitzpatrick as two wingers.

Second-placed Jags go to Greenock tonight seeking to eat into the eight-point gap Saints - who have played one more game - have carved out.
