It's seconds away for round 2 of the Ibrox derby scrap

Rohl has to make sure there's no repeat of big drop-off after the break as Gers can't afford to let Hoops off the ropes

ALMOST a week has gone by since the last one. And there's now only a day or two until the next instalment.

And I've got to be honest, even with all my experience of this particular fixture, I'm still not sure what we're supposed to make of it all.

I was at Ibrox on Sunday and for 45 minutes I couldn't have asked for any more. Rangers were on the front foot, they were aggressive from the first kick of the ball.

And they came up with a performance which was as complete as anything I can remember seeing from either side in any Old Firm derby.

Any nerves I might have felt sitting in the stand were blown away in the opening exchanges. So when Youssef Chermiti’s double made it 2-0 in the first half - and we'll come back to the quality of those goals a little later - it may have seemed as if there was only going to be one winner.

But not to me. When you've played in these games you know things are never, ever that straightforward.

And that's probably why something was eating away at me during the half time break. People look at you as if you're half daft when you say that a two-goal lead can be a dangerous lead.

But, as crazy as it might sound, I sensed that was more the case than ever on Sunday afternoon mainly because of how completely dominant Rangers had been throughout that opening half.

Experience tells you that Celtic will have a good spell in the game at some point. I have never played in a game against them when that wasn't the case.

When these two come together no one team ever dominates a derby match so thoroughly for the whole of the 90 minutes. And I knew, if they scored the next goal, the entire momentum of the match might shift.

It's then a question of how you regroup and respond. And that's where Rangers struggled from the moment Kirean Tierney pulled one back from near enough nowhere.
