Jort's only Tangerines regret

- BY SCOTT BURNS

JORT VAN DER SANDE'S one Dundee United regret is he never gave the Tangerine Army a goal to celebrate.

The big striker was at Tannadice for just over a season and made himself a favourite with fans before he returned to the Netherlands with SC Cambuur last week.

It was a massive decision to quit United and he did so with a heavy heart but a sackful of Tangerines memories that will stay with him forever.

He was a player who gave everything and he just wished he had been able to score a goal to give the United fans something back for all the support they had given him.

Van der Sande said: "The thing that I regret the most is not scoring for Dundee United because it was something that I really wanted to give back to the fans.

"It would have been a great moment because we had both been waiting so long for it.

"When Cambuur called me for the first time and I was like, 'oh no, I need to be fit and I need to score a goal before I leave'.

"Unfortunately, because of the (preseason) injury that didn't happen."

The 29-year-old was in the final year of his contract and admitted it was a massive decision to leave United.
