I like being a nice guy ...I wouldn't dine with Blackadder or Bean

Rowan Atkinson has finally given himself a Christmas present he really wants - to play a comic character he actually likes.

- BY MARK JEFFERIES Showbiz Editor

The comedian, 70, best known for playing sarcastic Blackadder and self-serving Mr Bean, today unwraps a second adventure for hapless nice guy Trevor Bingley.

In 2022's Man vs Bee, house-sitter Trevor causes irreparable damage when he is engaged in an ongoing battle with a bumblebee.

Trevor is now a school caretaker but takes a lucrative Christmas penthouse-sitting job. But when no one collects the “Baby Jesus” from the school nativity, he has an unexpected holiday companion on his hands.

Rowan said: “Trevor Bingley, in his basic form, is arguably one of the nicest people I've ever played. Because I think most people I've played are sort of deeply unpleasant, really, you know, Mr Bean is a selfish, self serving, anarchic child.

“Blackadder is sort of sarcastic and sardonic and basically a negative force, I think. And even Johnny English is sort of vain, sort of charmless. I think Trevor has turned out to be one of my more pleasant, amenable creations.
