Court docs claim Scots lawyer killed by husband weeks after giving birth Prosecutors say row over June's size sparked attack that led to death

- BY RUTH SUTER

A SCOTS lawyer found dead in Los Angeles was murdered and dismembered by her husband after “failing to lose weight” just weeks after giving birth, court documents say.

June Bunyan, from Arran, was found dead earlier this month. She had moved to the US to become a defence attorney.

Her husband Jonathan Renteria, 25, is now in custody as the prime suspect with bail set at $4million.

Court records state June, 37, and Renteria were married for a year and had a month-old baby together.

The documents allege Renteria was found in a Ventura County hotel room bleeding, with a wound to his forearm and a note admitting killing his wife.

Prosecutors say he claimed the pair had an argument over June “failing to lose weight following her pregnancy” and that she began packing her belongings.

In a recorded interview with Renteria, he reportedly admits “putting the victim in a rear-naked chokehold” and killing her.

June was last seen alive on September 4. Renteria was seen the following day, leaving with the baby in the middle of the night. Hours later, he was seen holding bin bags.
