Despite last-Test defeat, Aki is just happy to be a series winner but even happier to be flying back to meet his new daughter for first time

FROM ADAM HATHAWAY in Sydney BUNDEE AKI flies home from Australia as a series-winning Lion to greet the baby daughter he has never met.

The Ireland centre became a father for the fifth time when preparing for the first Test against the Wallabies in Brisbane two weeks ago.

Aki’s wife Kayla was in New Zealand with family when she went into labour just as the midfielder was going into a pregame briefing ahead of the 27-19 win over the Wallabies.

He came off the bench that day and started the last two Tests but after Saturday's 22-12 defeat in Sydney he was itching to meet up with the new arrival, Aine.

The 35-year-old said: "Credit to my wife. She's a powerful woman and a strong woman.
