FRAME GAME Brian Anderson built up close relationships with gangsters

Shooting the Mob by Brian Anderson is a Christmas bestseller sparking interest from movie investors with Scottish connections.

Brian's book features some of the most famous underworld figures he snapped over 25 years and tells the story of how he earned their trust and became a confidante.

Glaswegian Brian, 56, is set for meetings with an unnamed movie big wig early in the New Year.

He told the Record: "The book is just my whole journey documenting Britain's underworld in the last three decades or so.

"Within an hour of it going live, there was interest from a big Hollywood investor and two top actors who wanted to turn it into a movie. I don't want to say who they are at the moment but I am hoping to meet with them in early January.

"They want to tell my story about growing up in the east end of Glasgow surrounded by gangs and gang warfare.

"I got a phone call from a friend to say that they had read the book, had loved it and wanted to meet me."

Brian, from Blackhill in Glasgow, began taking photographs of criminals in the late 90s for newspapers when he was about 25.

The first people he photographed were Thomas TC Campbell and Joe Steele, who were serving life sentences for the murders of six members of the Doyle family in Glasgow in 1984 as part of the city's ice cream wars.
