Migration sees population hit record despite drop in births
SCOTLAND'S population has hit a record high of 5.55million due to inward migration.
But the number of babies being born is at an all-time low.
National Records of Scotland (NRS) figures show the population increase was due to net migration of 56,400.
For the ninth year in a row, the number of deaths in 2024 exceeded the number of births.
