Greer and Mackay vow to champion struggling Scots and tax the wealthy

MSPs Gillian Mackay and Ross Greer have been elected as the new co-leaders of the Scottish Greens.

The pair, both in their 30s, replace Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater, who had served as junior ministers in the Scottish Government under a power-sharing deal with the SNP.

Harvie, the longest-serving leader at Holyrood after 17 years in the role, announced earlier this year that he was standing down from his post.

Slater had stood for reelection but was defeated in the leadership contest, which is held every two years under the rules of the pro independence party.
