Ross: We've spent next to nothing but stand to profit
ROSS GOODWIN is confident the recruitment structures he has put in place can defy the financial odds and keep Dundee United competing at the top of the Scottish game.
The transfer chief arrived at Tannadice in May and helped to completely overhaul namesake boss Jim Goodwin's squad over the summer by bringing in 14 new signings.
Celtic and Rangers have long been out on their own financially in Scotland but in recent years Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen have all ramped up their spending to leave a real gulf.
Goodwin has been brought in to find value for money - and talent United can add value to and generate their own big future incomes from.
The 28-year-old, who previously worked at Plymouth, said: “Finances in Scotland are very different from England. We had to think, ‘How do we challenge these teams long-term in a different way?
“Utilising my more data-led approach, we can identify marketplaces where our money can go further. That can be seen by the recruitment we have done so far over the summer.
