Toxic buildings putting cops and public at risk

CASH-strapped Police Scotland is spending record sums of money removing deadly asbestos from its stations, according to shock figures.
Since 2022, the force has forked out more than £1million extracting the toxic material from scores of offices used by both police and public.
However the cost, revealed under Freedom of Information, has soared in the last three years from £108,456 in 2023 to £583,978 in the first nine months of this year. Overall the money spent on asbestos removal since 2022 is £1,068,131.
Police chiefs have also spent a further £235,000 carrying out asbestos-related repairs to buildings.
