Clarke's men defy odds to pull off stunning comeback win and take huge step towards World Cup

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

SCOTLAND'S American dream is ON after Steve Clarke's troops staged a sensational second-half surge to stun Greece.

Lewis Ferguson pounced from close range with just 10 minutes to go at Hampden after Ryan Christie had cancelled out Kostas Tsimikas' strike, before Lyndon Dykes coolly slammed in a stoppage-time killer third. Scotland looked in major trouble after a grim opening period spent chasing Greek shadowsonly to blow the visitors away with an incredible last half-hour blitz which never looked on the cards.

And the huge three points fired the national side level on points at the top of Group C and bang in the frame for a spot in next summer's World Cup across the pond with Belarus up next in Glasgow on Sunday still smarting after last night's 6-0 thrashing by Denmark.

Clarke said: "On the performance side, you have to understand how hard we worked out of possession to limit a very good Greek side.

"When they scored the goal the shackles came off a little bit and we seemed to find half a yard in our press.
