Ending 28 years of hurt was a double joy for Lewis

- PAUL THOMSON

LEWIS FERGUSON revealed that he had two reasons to celebrate after Scotland's sensational World Cup qualification - as it came on his daughter's third birthday.

And he admits ending 28 years of World Cup hurt made up for the heartache of missing her party.

Birthday girl Lake didn't miss her dad's party though as she was in the Hampden stands to see Lewis help Scotland beat Denmark 4-2 on a drama-filled night to reach the finals for the first time since 1998.

Scott McTominay scored possibly the best Scotland goal ever with an outrageous overhead kick inside three minutes but the Danes levelled from the penalty spot in the second half.

Substitute Lawrence Shankland touched in Ferguson's corner in 78 minutes only for Patrick Dorgu to level three minutes later.
