A DAUGHTER has called for a new police probe into the serial sex offender who murdered her mum to discover if he committed any other attacks.

- BY NORMAN SILVESTER

Graham McGill is serving life for strangling 58-year-old Mary McLaughlin in Glasgow in 1984.

He was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow in 2021 after a cold case review matched him to DNA found in Mary's flat on a cigarette butt, dressing gown cord and dress.

Mary's daughter Gina McGavin says she would welcome a reinvestigation of McGill and possible links to other crimes including murder.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Record's Criminal Record podcast, she said: "Perhaps a sharp-eyed eyed detective will pick up on that and start searching the database for other ones that are unsolved and connect the dots. It would be good if they could do that.

"In my mind it's a lot of resources and a lot of time. But you can't put a price on a life."
