Trump trolls Iran after 'weak’ attack on US airbase

DONALD Trump trolled Iran last night in a bizarre bid to broker peace, after it fired missiles at a US base in Qatar in what he called a “very weak" retaliatory attack.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s regime had threatened to send 50,000 American troops “home in coffins” after the American president ordered the weekend bombing of its Fordo nuclear site.

Iran yesterday targeted the Al Udeid base in Qatar, the largest US military installation in the Middle East, with 10,000 military and civilian personnel. It was visited by Trump last month.

Qatar condemned the attack and said its air defences had intercepted the Iranian missiles.

Trump belittled the strikes, posting on his Truth Social site: “Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered.” He said Iran had fired 14 missiles, 13 of which were “knocked down” with the other headed in a “non-threatening direction”.

Trump added: “Most importantly, they've gotten it all out of their ‘system,’ and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice.

“Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same.”

Seemingly trying to de-escalate the tensions, he later posted: “CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT'S TIME FOR PEACE!”

Earlier, Iranian state media had announced that the regime had begun its “mighty and victorious” response to the US strikes.
