Scotland's unsung hero Hanley is only just coming to terms with Denmark madness
GRANT HANLEY admits the enormity of the victory that took Scotland to a World Cup is only just starting to sink in.
The Hibs defender played his part in Tuesday's 4-2 emotional rollercoaster win over Denmark as the national team ended their 27-year wait to return to football's biggest tournament.
And Hanley lapped up the celebrations at the end before enjoying the post-game party with the rest of the squad.
But the 34-year-old admits he did not appreciate the effect it would have on the entire nation.
He said: “It was surreal really, an unbelievable experience and even still, a few days down the line, it probably still hasn't really sunk in.
“You probably don't realise, or I certainly never realised, how big the achievement was.
