Three ‘illegal workers’ arrested at barbers

THREE “illegal workers” were arrested at a Gwynedd barbers in an immigration crackdown.
‘The Home Office said Immigration Enforcement made more than 590 illegal working arrests in Wales and more than 1,100 visits from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025.
They said this was a 98% increase in arrests and 95% increase in visits on the year before.
‘The figures include a visit to Star Barber shop in Porthmadog on September 12. This resulted in three illegal working arrests, they said.
Civil Penalty Referral Notices were issued to the premises meaning they may face hefty fines if found liable.
Owner Mehmet Goncagul said he had been away over the summer having a heart operation back in Turkey.
