READERS SAY MOVE TO ALLOW TRAFFIC ON KEY TOWN CENTRE STREET WON'T BE MUCH HELP FOR RESORT REGENERATION
READERS have been responding to reports that Colwyn Bay's pedestrianised high street may be reopened to vehicles and it's safe to say most commenters don't have an optimistic view of the town's prospects.
Colwyn Bay's Central Local Area Forum, a statutory body of Conwy County Council, met last week, where it was suggested that Station Road (pictured) should be either completely or partly reopened for traffic.
Cllr Cheryl Carlisle serves as chairwoman of the forum and confirmed that councillors have now backed reopening Station Road as part of regeneration proposals brought forward.
Cllr Carlisle then outlined how all except two councillors on the forum favour the street being reopened to vehicles to help stimulate commerce.
The Old Colwyn councillor stated Conwy County Council will now examine the proposals as part of the authority's regeneration initiative for the town, with a potential public consultation ahead.
