Police officer sacked after bust-up with his ex-partner wins job back

A FORMER police officer sacked after a row with his ex-partner is set to get his job back. North Wales Police officer Owain Lewis had turned up late at night at the home he and the woman - a fellow officer - shared.

He threw her phone and a disciplinary panel found him guilty of gross misconduct and dismissed him from the force. However he appealed and now a tribunal has found it was “misconduct” rather than gross misconduct.

The tribunal panel therefore said the original hearing had “erred” and he should have only got a final written warning covering the next two years. He should be readmitted to the force, added the panel.

Mr Lewis and his partner's relationship had been breaking down and on September 30, 2022 Mr Lewis had found his then partner - known as PC A - in bed with another man. All three are police officers.

Mr Lewis had returned to their home and found PC A and the man - known as PC B - “in bed” and “in a state of undress”.

A “scuffle” between Mr Lewis and PC B followed.

Mr Lewis “threw a pan in frustration” which was all part “of an all too human reaction to what had happened’ it was found. Allegations surrounding this incident were dismissed.
