Noise complaint led to baseball bat attack

A MAN “stupidly” hit a neighbour on the head with a baseball bat after he complained about noise. Graham Hughes hit Paul Fox over a complaint about Mr Fox drilling into a wall for a puppy kennel.

The 38-year-old defendant's father Darren Hughes had complained about the noise and phoned his son Graham, who cycled over and attacked Mr Fox in Pentre Gwyn in Wrexham in September 2023.

On Wednesday Graham Hughes’ own barrister at Mold Crown Court said he had been “stupid”.

A judge gave him a nine-month sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm but suspended it for 18 months.

He fined him £1,000 and ordered him to pay £250 compensation to Mr Fox.

Prosecutor Karl Scholz said Mr Fox was sawing wood in a garden for a puppy kennel, which was to be fitted under a staircase, on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

He was sawing until 7pm and started drilling into the wall under the stairs.
