Music festival scrapped for 2026 – but 'it will be back'

A POPULAR music festival on Anglesey has been cancelled for next year but organisers say it will return.

Gwyl Cefni has been held in Llangefni for a quarter of a century.

It was started back in 2000 as part of the activities of Menter Iaith Mon, which is a language initiative within Menter Mon.

This year was the biggest festival yet with thousands attending and performances from Welsh music acts like Elin Fflur, Gwilym and Fleur De Lys.

But after all the costs and the work organising the 2025 event, the Gwyl Cefni committee, which is currently being coordinated by Menter Mon, has come to a “difficult but necessary” decision not to hold Gwyl Cefni in 2026.
