Wales duo to leave the Ospreys for Gloucester
WALES captains Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake have spoken out after their double exit from the Ospreys was confirmed.
Amid mounting speculation over their futures, it was announced yesterday that the duo will join Gallagher PREM side Gloucester ahead of the 2026/27 season in a seismic blow for Welsh rugby. More big names are expected to follow them to England as they look for stability amid the uncertainty surrounding the future structure of Welsh rugby, but the departure of two players of Morgan and Lake's quality is a big loss for the professional game in Wales.
With both men heading to Kingsholm to join the Cherry & Whites next summer, they have admitted leaving the Ospreys is “extremely difficult” but are both ready to take on a new challenge in the top flight of English rugby.
“This was an extremely difficult decision for me to make, but I hope our supporters can understand the reasoning behind me wanting to pursue a new challenge,” said Morgan as his departure was confirmed.
“The Ospreys is a club that will always hold a special place in my heart, there are some incredible people here that have played an important part in getting me to where I am now, and I will never forget that.
