PANCAKE Day, or Shrove Tuesday as it's more formally known, is the perfect way of escaping the February gloom, by stuffing yourself up with delicious fluffy goodness.

Hickory's, Rhos on Sea

I can't believe it's almost pancake day again? It just 'creped' up on me.If like myself, your pancakes stick to the saucepan and just fall apart when you attempt to flip them over, then perhaps eating out is a sensible option.

So, with that in mind, we headed off to the North Wales coast to get our fix of the maple syrupy stacks of joy.

Hickory's is an authentic American BBQ restaurant, located near the A55 rather than the legendary Route 66. The Rhos-on-Sea smokehouse conjures up a traditional style of cooking, which may have its roots in the USA but is just as popular, here in Wales.

They offer bucketfuls of popcorn, massive racks of ribs, sizzling steaks, hot buffalo wings and enormous American desserts. They also offer a brunch menu, which has everything on it from steak and eggs, sausage patty muffins, freshly made waffles and more importantly, flipping pancakes.

The Rhos-on-sea restaurant was the first Hickory's to open in Wales. It opened back in 2014, transforming the old Ship pub. The smokehouse was refurbished last year with new seating, a kitchen refit, and a new secluded bar space, separate from the main dining area. Hickory's have also added a new Southern Pride smoker to their kitchen, which came across the Atlantic from Alamo.
