Grandparents jailed for life for Ethan's murder

THE killer grandparents of murdered toddler Ethan Ives-Griffiths have been jailed for life.

Michael Ives, 48, and his wife Kerry Ives, 46, were given minimum terms of 23 years and 17 years respectively for the murder of their two-year-old grandson at Mold Crown Court yesterday.

He will serve at least 20 years and 117 days due to time spent on remand.

There was also a nine-year jail term for child cruelty to run concurrently.

Kerry Ives will serve at least 15 years and 102 days including her time spent on remand.

She was also given a six-year concurrent jail term for child cruelty.

Ethan's mother Shannon Ives of Rhes-y-Cae, near Holywell, was sentenced to 12 years for causing or allowing the death of a child. She was also handed a five-year term for child cruelty which will run concurrently.

They were found guilty in July of killing little Ethan at their home in Garden City, Flintshire in 2021.
