Ex-soldier spared jail after assault

A FORMER soldier has been spared jail after slapping and punching his then partner.
Liam Wheeler immediately went to Caernarfon Police Station following the assault on January 7 this year to confess what he had done and that he wanted to be arrested, a court heard.
Prosecuting, Emmalyne Downing told Caernarfon Crown court that Wheeler was agitated, but calmed down and told police he had given his partner a black eye and a fat lip. He was also upset about making allegations against his partner's child and showed officers his right hand which had blood on it.
