Emergency services respond to wave of crashes on icy roads

EMERGENCY services responded to a wave of crashes across North Wales yesterday morning amid icy conditions on the roads.

Police issued a plea for motorists to exercise extreme caution following a flurry of accidents during the morning rush hour.
The freezing conditions had impacted rural routes, though A-roads were also caught in the disruption. North Wales Police (NWP) was working from the early hours to manage multiple scenes.
A NWP Flintshire South team highlighted the situation, following a number of collisions in the county.
A statement said: "Good morning everyone. It's a chilly start to the day and our control room are receiving multiple reports this morning of road traffic collisions in the Leeswood, Pantymwyn and Pontblyddyn areas due to black ice.
"Please try to stick to main roads and avoid untreated roads which are more likely to pose hazardous driving conditions."
