Draft compulsory purchase orders to progress Dee bridge crossing issued

WELSH Government has published draft compulsory purchase orders to push on with a major road scheme in North Wales.

The government wants to build a new bridge crossing over the River Dee at Queensferry.

This is because the existing River Dee Bridge that carries the A494 is in a poor condition and needs replacing.

The new preferred scheme - currently out to consultation - will include a four-lane bridge as well as new hard shoulders on additional sections of the A494.

Enabling work on the replacement bridge could potentially start in Autumn 2026 and the £170+ project get fully under way in Spring 2027.
