AN "ARROGANT" drugged-up driver changed his clothes at the wheel before crashing into a line of stationary cars, a court has heard.

- By JASON EVANS

Benedict Bramble was seen tailgating other vehicles and repeatedly swerving across the road as he tried to perform overtaking manoeuvres. At one stage he pulled out directly into the path of an oncoming tractor on the busy A-road.

Eventually, the 24-year-old slammed into the back off the line of cars in front of him, which had slowed down and come to a stop.

A judge told the defendant he had displayed "breathtaking arrogance" in driving the way he did.

Dean Pulling, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that Bramble was seen by multiple witnesses driving on the A40 between Robeston Wathen and Haverfordwest on May 15 this year, with one fellow motorist describing his driving as "completely erratic and utterly dangerous"

The court heard Bramble was seen to be changing his clothes while driving in busy traffic and to be repeatedly swerving across the white lines in the middle of the road as he tried to overtake vehicles in front of him.

The court heard that at one stage the defendant pulled out to try to pass a line of traffic ahead of him, only to find himself in the path of an oncoming tractor and having to brake hard and swerve back into his own lane to avoid a head-on crash.

The prosecutor said Bramble did eventually crash on the approach to Haverfordwest Golf Club when his Audi A3 ploughed into the back of a line of stationary traffic ahead of him, shunting a number of cars into the vehicles in front of them.
