Air ambulance called after baby Rupert suffers 'medical emergency'

Rupert Smith, who has an extremely rare genetic disorder, has captured the hearts of the people of North Wales with his fight for life.

The seven-month-old had spent days in Alder Hey children’s hospital after he was airlifted from Broughton Shopping Park last month. His conditions means he suffers regular life-threatening seizures.

He has been home in recent weeks with parents Dave and Siobhan Smith and their two other children - and the fundraising effort for him has surpassed £133,000.

But he had a major setback yesterday when he suffered a “medical emergency” at his home in Broughton. The Welsh Ambulance Service and Wales Air Ambulance responded, with the helicopter landing in a park near their home.
