22 LARGE STANDING STONES MYSTERIOUSLY APPEAR

A COLLECTION of standing stones left walkers slightly baffled when they mysteriously appeared next to a remote reservoir in Eryri (Snowdonia).

The 22 monoliths were erected in a beautiful valley where Gwydyr Forest meets the Carneddau mountains.

Akin to the Gorsedd stones used in modern druidic ceremonies, they're located on the shores of Llyn Crafnant, a former reservoir above the Conwy Valley.

As the lake can only be reached from Trefriw via a steep and tortuous lane, onlookers quickly realised real “stones” could not have been delivered to the site.

Up close, walkers discovered they were hollow and made of plywood. It's thought they're being used as props for an upcoming Channel 4 “wilderness thriller” about Welsh climbers who chance upon a far-right faction plotting a campaign of violence.

Deadpoint - billed as a “literal cliffhanger” - centres on the self-proclaimed Justice Crusade led by the charismatic former soldier Fairweather, played by Michael Socha (‘The Gallows Pole, Showtrial).
