DAVID Norris laid it on thick in court, claiming he fell in with a gang of racist yobs as a substitute for the affection he never got from his gangster father.
Now 49 and with middle-aged spread, greying hair and reading glasses, he looked a different man to the snarling thug who traded punches and insults with demonstrators at the Stephen Lawrence inquiry in 1998.
He insisted he was changed on the inside too, saying of his involvement in Stephen's murder: "That was the old me, not the new me."
